Modernist Coastline Vintage Original Oil on Board

A vintage modernist coastline Oil on Board painting by Paul Besson (born 1931). A visually striking modernist painting dated 1986 of a coastline with the rooftop of a fisherman’s house in Brittany, France. The artist has created layered textured horizontal brushstrokes adding depth to the exacting lines of the cliffs and sea. •Dated and titled to reverse ‘September ‘86’ (Brittany, France) •Framed sizing: 17” x 26.75” (42cm x 68cm) •Oil on board in very good vintage condition. Beautifully framed, very fine cracks to paintwork of frame, can be painted out. •A second painting by the artist is also available in my Etsy store. Notes on the artist: Pascal Besson was born on March 24, 1931 in Lausanne. From 1951 to 1954 He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, then at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. His works are part of several private and public collections, such as those of the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, the Pully Museum and the MoMA of New York.
