A vintage modernist shoreline Oil on Board painting by Paul Besson (born 1931). A visually striking modernist painting dated 1981 of a beach in Brittany, France. The artist has created layered textured horizontal brushstrokes adding depth to the exacting lines of the boat and scene. •Dated and titled to reverse ‘1981 ‘Breiz Ar Mor, Bretagne’ (Brittany, France) •Framed sizing: 17.25” x 27.5” (43cm x 70cm) •Oil on board in very good vintage condition. Frame with marks consistent with age. •A second painting by the artist is also available in my Etsy store. Notes on the artist: Pascal Besson was born on March 24, 1931 in Lausanne. From 1951 to 1954 He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, then at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. His works are part of several private and public collections, such as those of the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, the Pully Museum and the MoMA of New York. In 1996 the Pully Museum of Art in Switzerland dedicated a retrospective of works from his 30 year career. Any questions please ask and I'll be very happy to help....more
