Original Swedish Mid-Century Oil on Panel “Morning By The Sea” by GÖTE REX - Vintage & Framed An exquisite oil painting featuring seascape, meticulously crafted by the renowned GÖTE REX Dimension with frame Approx. 19x49 cm. Signed. Condition: overall good vintage condition with some age related marks Gote Rex 1902-1960. Born in Halmstad (Sweden) in 1902, Rex was the son of a Danish Taxidermist who had arrived in Halmstad from Denmark in 1885. Rex studied painting in Gothenburg. His first exhibition was a joint exhibition with the artist Einar Krüger held at the Hotel Mårtensson in Halmstad in 1944. They exhibited together again (in Halmstad) in 1948 and went to study in Paris during the Spring of 1948. Rex’s first solo exhibition was in 1949. In the early 1950s Rex met the artist Carl Johansson (1863-1944) and he began working in a more graphic style. Rex’s retrospective exhibition was held at the City Library in Halmstad in 1957.
