Onion Hand-painted Delft Tile

Single Decorative Tile | Cobalt Collection Tiles have endless uses, for example, they can be used as kitchen splashbacks, in a child’s bathroom or to decorate a fireplace. The Cobalt collection is inspired by Delftware - a term used for all tin-glazed earthenware made in the Netherlands and the British Isles from the 16th century. Delftwares were decorated using metal oxides, cobalt oxide in particular was used which produced the familiar blue and white ceramics of this era. I have used this traditional decorating technique to produce the tiles in the Cobalt collection. A white tin glaze is hand poured onto the bisque fired tile, left to cure for several days and then hand painted on top using cobalt oxide.
