These bookends made of Walnut wood can fold flat or open to slide under and hold books. The flat side of the hinged bookends slides under the base of the books, while the other side of the hinge holds the books upright with the polished arched wooden side. They are based on a classic midcentury Danish design. They have a beautiful patina and the grain of this a wood is gorgeous. These bookends are an elegant and simple alternative to the more standard bulky decorated bookend variety. The hinges are tight and stand solidly at 90 degrees and the showing part is a rounded smooth arch and I’d say by the style of the hinge these are definitely vintage… prob 70s. The flat side is 16.5cm in length and the displayed arch facing is 13.5cm in height and width. There is a chip on one of the bases corner, but this does not affect its purpose and will not be seen....more
