Set of six Poole Eggcups in the rare DO pattern with serving platter, a complete original set. The red earthenwares were covered in a white slip, dipped into a semi-matt clear glaze before decoration in a variety of floral and geometric patterns which were created by Truda Carter who designed for the pottery from 1921 onwards. Each egg cup is hand painted incised Poole Pottery which dates them from between 1924 and 1950. Each is hand made so the sizes vary slightly. The Poole Pottery code is two or three letters with a slash. On these egg cups it is DO which is a rarely seen pattern. These letters are usually accompanied by a symbol which identifies the painter and adds to the charm. Each egg cup would have been handmade and hand painted before being assembled as a set.
