Pretty antique Georgian porcelain dish circa 1820

Really pretty late Georgian English porcelain dish hand painted with delicate sprigs of pink roses. Absolutely classic restrained English style of the late Georgian period. This dates from the 1820s or maybe into the 1830s (think Jane Austen!). Great authentic prop for a period drama. Probably made in Staffordshire where there were so many pottery and porcelain factories, hence known as 'The Potteries'. Early pieces like this would very rarely have a factory mark on them - these only became common practice later on in the Victorian period. Lovely clean white porcelain hand painted over the glaze with enamels of pink, green and dark purple (known in the trade as manganese). Has high sloping sides. In amazing condition for a piece that is 200 years old. Very mild surface scratches to the glaze in the bottom but barely visible and just adds to the antique authenticity. There is one very faint hairline crack to the glaze only but again only visible under a magnifying glass (see photo) and is not a problem. Will look lovely on a dressing table, in a bathroom or any home with a chintzy, cottage style perhaps. To clean, just wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth....more
