Purbeck Pottery Bud Vase

A quality piece of Purbeck pottery in the form of this attractive globular bud vase. Created in the 1980s it has a distinctive white speckled glaze with a ribbed texture, the lower half has a globe shape whilst the upper is conical allowing no more than one to three flower stems. It features a hand painted design of two flowers, one red and one blue with some green leaves and a solid blue line rim. The unglazed base has the original maker's sticker which states 'Bournemouth /Poole England. Vitreous stoneware made with clay from the Purbeck Hills near Corfe Castle, Dorset. It measures about 14cm high, 9.5cm wide and 4cm across the top narrowing to about 1.5cm inside. There is a slight indent to the edge of the base from the manufacturing process. A lovely quality piece which would go well with any decor in either a vintage or modern setting.
