This stunning pottery candleholder, manufactured by Wardle & Co, in Stoke-on-Trent, dates from c1890 onwards and is a particularly rare example, with a very clear Arts & Crafts aesthetic. A fine gift or collectors piece, of museum quality, it features a beautiful twin-handled design, scalloped candle cup and base and striking hand-painted motifs, in rich tones of ochre, brick-red, black and teal. 13.5cm H x 12cm Base diameter x 2.8cm Candle-cup (to accept a taper candle up to this size) In excellent antique condition throughout, with minimal wear, free of chips, nibbles or damage and it comes fully marked to its base.
