Rare Portuguese Glass Hen Dish

This stunning glass dish was hand made in Portugal around the turn of the century by glass makers Ivimi 1895. Crafted in clear glass the lid of the dish is a beautifully detailed hen, her head turned to the left, two eggs each side at the front and one egg each side at the base of a split tail. She sits on the base which is a clear glass basket with woven detail. The makers sticker is on the base of the basket. It measures about 17cm in length and 18cm to the tip of the tail. It is a little small for holding eggs but will take half a dozen medium sized eggs should you wish. However it is a beautiful display piece and quite hard to come by. They were originally made in other colours including amber, cobalt blue, green, smokey gray and milk glass.
