Rye Cinque Ports coffee set, 4 cups and saucers, milk jug, coffee pot and sugar bowl. One cup chipped. Established by George Gray in 1964, the Cinque Ports Pottery at The Monastery focused on the production of decorative and domestic pieces that could be sold in volume at reasonable prices. Gray had partnered previously with the artist potter David Sharp, who had served his apprenticeship at Rye Pottery, developing and sharing the design vocabulary that connects the various local potteries, and makes them so popular and collectable today.
