Set 4 antique Indian graduating brass seers, 1900s

A wonderful set of four antique brass seers, with handles, and copper rivets. These are “dippers”, in graduating seer units of 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32. Seers are traditional Indian units of measurement. They were manufactured by The Oriental Metal Pressing Works, Bombay around early 1900s. They have a gorgeous timeworn patina, and have a variety of marks and numbers, giving provenance and telling a story, including some cooks' initials in Hindi, as was the practice. These have bumps and dents of years of use, and they now are hard to find, and are mostly likely best for decor use only… The cans range from 9 x 6 cm to 4.5 x 3 cm, plus handles, and have manufacturer names on handles and bases. As all items are preloved, there maybe signs of wear and use.
