Stunning post modern set of candle holders from Denmark. Famous design by Mikaela Dörfel, made around the start of this millennium by Menu Scandinavian Design Originals. The name of the model is off course Tango, referring to the intertwined shape. These candlesticks are still being made today, in a variety of colors. This one is in a lovely color purple. They are in perfect condition. Marked underneath the base. Dimensions: 32 cm tall and 5cm in diameter at the base. Made of heavy quality steel. Designer Mikaela Dörfel was born in 1962 in Finland, but studied and now works in Hamburg, Germany. In 1997, she founded her own studio, Dörfel-Design near Hamburg. There she focused on designing tableware for leading companies. She usually works with porcelain or stainless steel and her work is always highly individual with timeless elegance. Her impeccable detailing emphasizes the strong conceptual ideas and her designs are innovative yet functional. Her sources for inspiration are Scandinavia, nature and water....more
