A highly sort after set of ‘Harlequinade’ pattern bowls from Empire Porcelain Co. Designed in 1955 and later manufactured in ‘62, their bright and simple decoration reflected post-war consumer demand for contemporary tableware. The set comprises of 1 x large and 6 x small white earthenware bowls, decorated with an underglaze that has been hand painted with a pattern of broad gingham style stripes, interwoven with thin black lines. A similar set were once on display at the V&A Museum and now feature on the website as a part of the historical archives. Large - H: 6.5cm D: 22cm Small - H: 4.5cm D: 16.5cm In great vintage condition with some slight crazing on the underside of each bowl. ~~ All items are sold as seen.
