This little wooden lidded pot is made out of Red Gum (a form of Eucalyptus) wood. It has a wonderful patina and is truly a gorgeous piece. This will add a lovely natural warmth any spot in the home. it is signed on the bottom but I am unable to make out the full name of the maker (see photo). Hugh Amontal?
