This beautiful hand-carved vessel is perfect as just an Objet d art or a small posey vase. This vessel has stunning marking-coloured onyx on one side and a paler less veined side on the other. Onyx is formed of bands of chalcedony in alternating colours. It is cryptocrystalline, consisting of fine intergrowths of the silica minerals quartz and moganite. Its bands are parallel to one another, as opposed to the more chaotic banding that often occurs in agates.
