The piece is a vintage utility oak sideboard/buffet by the furniture maker Gordon Russell, circa 1940s/1950s, which has been upcycled with a bold and colourful design to give it a new lease of life. There are four central drawers- the top drawer divided into four and lined with brown felt- flanked by two cupboards, all with sculptured bubinga handles, and the Gordon Russell logo plaque to the back. This is a well-made piece of furniture complete with craftsman’s dovetail joints, which will last for years to come. Measurements height 87cm, width 141cm, depth 48cm. The sideboard has been cleaned and sanded and then painted using a blend of Annie Sloan chalk paints. Dry-brushed layers of paint give a textured look and feel and multiple stencils have been used to create an all-over tropical pattern of flamingos, palm trees and floral motifs. The whole piece is finished with multiple layers of Annie Sloan clear wax and black wax on the green areas to protect the finish. See more on Instagram @vickiseagravedesigns...more
