Vintage 1960s Bright Blue, Yellow and White Sommerso Glass Dish. Measurements are as follows ~ 9cm x 13cm Opening, 7cm Height, 6.5cm Base Sommerso is Italian for "submerged" and is the Murano glassmaking technique of creating two or more layers of contrasting glass without the colours mixing together. It is formed by dipping coloured glass into molten glass of a different colour, before blowing the glass into the required form. This technique was developed and pioneered by Flavio Poli, but it is unlikely that he made very many of the pieces seen in the marketplace today. The combination of luminous blue and yellow captured and suspended within a white glass edge is a pure hit of dopamine decor and an instant win for us! The hugely tactile, super smooth wobbly outer shape contrasts wonderfully with clean top edge. As always, we have picked this piece as it will look equally at home in a vintage or modern aesthetic. The dish is overall in Very Good vintage condition. There is one teeny black mark to the interior of the dish - which would be from the time of manufacture, and some very light wear to the surface here and there....more
