A rather beautiful old plate from the well-known Beswick pottery company more famous for it figurines. It is from the A Marie range and the design is A Somerset Cottage. The plate has a scroll design on both left and right sides and a gilt edge rim partially faded. Although the plate has suffered some tannin staining and age crazing, the colours of the central design are clear, bright and absolutely beautiful. It measures 24.5cm across the scroll edges. I believe it could be from the 1940s as I have seen some other pieces with the same design but nothing looking quite this old. The more you look the more you love about this design, with the open door and window it's just so homely and inviting and really draws you in.
