A beautiful piece of Hungarian pottery, this slip glaze jug was crafted by Páll Guszti - one of the best known craftsmen in Korond, Hungary. A thin, decorative clay slurry has been applied to a dry ceramic jug and hand painted in a beautiful array of colours in a design synonymous with Hungarian folk art. H: 23.5cm W: 8cm (opening) 12cm (widest point) A master potter famous all over the Carpathian basin, he was one of the best-known craftsmen in Korond, one of the greatest figures in ceramic production. The Páll family in Korond knows about their potter ancestors going back to 1717. Ágoston Páll grew up in a family with many children. He completed his schooling in Korond and Székelyudvarhely, and learned the craft from his parents, grandfather and folk artist Dezső Bandi, who taught three generations of the Páll family.
