This beautiful little box is decorated with a gorgeous and unusual repoussé design - it has a very Art Deco style about it but I'm unsure of the age. It has a lovely aged patina and is full of character and charm. It's Japanese in origin and has the maker's mark to the base. It's clearly been well used and loved - the gold coating has mostly worn off to reveal the pewter below, which I think is a more attractive colour. The hinge is in good working order but there are some areas of damage to the top inner and outer edge and a loss to the back right corner of the base. It's a perfect little ring or trinket box.
