What a stunning dish by respected Australian ceramicist and artist, Colin Bowes. This beautiful piece, in strong, vibrant colours and with a stylised sun design in the centre, has been artfully coloured, but not glazed, so it retains a textured, porous surface. It measures 23cm in diameter and is just under 7cm tall. This piece dates from the mid to late 1980s. Bowes started out as a commercial artist, but then decided to study ceramics and this is part of his work from that time. However towards the end of the ‘80s/early 90’s he found his true passion in painting and this has remained his medium of choice.
