Vintage 1930s Uranium Glass Jug with Pair of Glasses. We love the elegant shape of this tall and slender, handblown glass jug in pale blue-green, Vaseline or uranium glass. It has been delicately etched with a Wheat motif, and the matching glasses only add to its charm. This collectable type of glass fell out of general production during the 1950s, but we feel that this jug was probably made slightly earlier than that. Uranium glass is so called because of the miniscule inclusion of Uranium Dioxide during manufacture. It's harmless and no more radioactive that than most other things in our homes. Unfortunately we are unable to test the fluorescence, but feel sure this is uranium glass, as it catches the light with every turn. As always, we have picked this set as it will look equally at home in a retro or modern aesthetic. Measures: Jug: 16cm Spout to Handle, Height 20cm, Base 7.5cm Cups: 6.5cm Opening, 9.5cm Tall, 4.5cm Base Overall, this set is in very good vintage condition - with only one of the glasses suffering from two teeny chips and a minor surface graze.
