This characterful cabinet possibly started life as a tobacco cabinet. It's been completely transformed into pretty decorative storage, perfect for art or craft supplies. The whole piece was thoroughly cleaned and sanded before being given washes of dilute furniture paint which allow the woodgrain to remain visible; the interior shows the original wood and has been oiled and polished. The anemone and bee design is hand painted and has been sealed with several layers of furniture wax. The cabinet has its original brass fixings allowing it to be wall mounted but it could equally be a tabletop cabinet. Please note it is substantial weighing 8.5 kilos. As with all my vintage pieces this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character and charm - there are a couple of small dinks in the edges of the wood and a fine split in the top left panel which doesn't affect it structurally.
