Wedgwood Blue and White Jasperware large Vase. Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by the English potter Josiah Wedgwood. It was rapidly successful, becoming one of the largest manufacturers of Staffordshire pottery, exporting throughout the world. The technique used here is known as Jasperware, a type of pottery first developed by Josiah and distinctive for its unglazed matte "biscuit" finish. The relief decorations, in white, are in their signature neo-classical designs resulting in the classic Wedgwood cameo-effect. This large flower vase with rose is well designed and perfect as a display vase for fresh or dried flowers. The motifs around the vase are in pristine condition and there are no chips, cracks or crazing.
