A large and homely modernist still life composition, executed in oil onto board and dated 1953. The painting presents an interior scene, where a group of objects including a wine bottle, an apple with a fruit knife, as well as some jars, sit atop a blue table by a window with a patterned curtain. Atop the window sill lies a fruit and some bottles, and beyond it lies a view of a snow-filled landscape with some trees. The painting has a soothing and homely feel, brought forth through the use of an uplifting muted colour palette, and the distinctive peach, as well as pink and blue shades, repeat themselves throughout the composition, creating a very harmonious and satisfying still-life picture. This oil on card is housed in a very well-suited wood frame with an inner linen border and a silver window.
