This beautiful Midcentury modern platter designed by Gotte Augustsson for Ruda Glasbruk Sweden; references abstraction, like vorticism in the UK, and the industrial processes of Modernism. Heavily textured it is a powerful piece of Scandinavian modernist design. Produced by the small Swedish glass company Ruda Glasbruk, originally founded in 1920, before its closure in the early 1970s. Gotte Augustsson, was their chief designer, and managed the studios and factory for the company. He was both a designer and a knowledgeable glass technician - producing domestic glass, metallurgy in glass production , which inform the creation of the art glass produced by the company, like this large glass platter.
