A delightful oil on canvas illustrating a rural scene of fruit pickers in the Swedish countryside. With rich colour and stylised brushwork, it displays a charming composition and excellent colour harmony. Provonance: purchased from Swedish auction house Halmstads Auktionskammare who it atributed to Svän Grandin. Born 1906 in Borås Sweden, Svän Grandin, was a well-regarded Swedish artist in the 20th century. Grandin first worked as a textile worker and sailor before studying art. He made his debut in an exhibition with Borås and the Sjuhäradsbygdens art association's Autumn Salon in 1936. He then came to participate in a number of separate and joint exhibitions in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Skara. His art consists of floral still life, figure motifs and landscapes.
