Here's something you won't find on the high street. A set of Churchill New Horizon Maple cups and saucers. These were designed in 1999 and were/are sold exclusively to professional catering establisments for their high performance. They are super vitrified and have the processing and standard mark on the base of the saucers (ISO9001 BS4034). This process which evolved over 200 years produces one of the strongest ceramic products in the world. It is made by melting the clay, to remove the water which makes ordinary ceramics porous causing it to easily break. Super vitrified pieces are far more resilient. This set are in perfect condition. There are six Maple chequered saucers with a blue rope design edge and they measure 15cm in diameter. There are two blue, two yellow, one orange and one green Maple tea cups which hold 19.6cl/7oz.
